EconEd Month: 2026 Contest Details

Every Econiful member who completes a core activity picks a prize for their classroom, and one of you is going to an economics education conference in 2027 on us. Complete activities outlined in "How to Earn Prizes" between September 1 and October 31, log it, and you become eligible for giveaways.

The more you do, the more you earn. Every activity you log adds points, and the higher your tier, the better the prize you get to choose. Reaching Tier 3 is the only way into the drawing for the grand prize: a sponsored trip to an economics education conference in 2027!

How it works

You will need to be signed in as an Econiful member, which is free.

  1. Earn points through activities like teaching an Econiful lesson, attending a PD session, finishing an on-demand module, referring a colleague, and more. The full list of what earns points is below.
  2. Fill out the activity form and tell us what you did. (Don't forget this step. Nothing is tracked automatically, so an activity you complete but never log earns zero points.)
  3. We tally points weekly and publish standings in the newsletter. In November we'll email you your final tier and you choose a prize from your tier level or tier levels below. If you reached Tier 3, you are also automatically entered into the drawing for the grand prize.

Grand Prize Eligibility and Details

Who is entered: You need 120 points to reach Tier 3 by October 31, and you need to be a U.S.-based Econiful member. Everyone who meets both goes into the drawing.

One winner: We draw a single name in early November, once points are tallied, and announce it that week.

Which conference: You choose one of three: CEE, JET SET, or NAEE. Pick whichever fits your students and your calendar best.

What we cover: Full conference registration, plus your hotel room and room tax. We book and pay for both directly, and we reimburse your travel once the conference is over.

What you cover: Travel up front, since we reimburse at the end rather than booking it for you. If fronting travel is a barrier, reach out and let us know. We're happy to work with the winner. Meals and incidentals stay with you, so do charges for parking, room service, minibar, and anything you do outside the conference itself.

Prizes
Prizes are tiered, and it works like a menu. Your point total unlocks a tier, and you pick one classroom prize from it. If nothing in your tier appeals to you, pick from any lower-point tier instead. Reaching Tier 2 does not mean you receive everything in Tier 1 and Tier 2. It means you get to choose from a longer list. The grand prize is separate, and everyone who reaches Tier 3 is entered for it.

How to Earn Points

Anything you do on or after September 1 counts toward a prize, as long as you remember to log it. The fall book club is the one exception, and it does not count toward points, however all other events and PDs will. Most of these activities can be repeated as often as you like. For more information, see the details below.

Core activities

Any one of these qualifies you for a Tier 1 prize.

Supporting activities

Bonus activities

Create a free account, or log in.

Logging activities and earning EconEd Month prizes takes an Econiful membership, and every member is eligible. Membership is free, and it comes with all 80 lessons in our curriculum, our on-demand PD, and eligibility for every giveaway we run.

10 points

Joining before October 31 counts as an activity, so you start with 10 points on the board.

Questions and Rules

Do I have to be an Econiful member to participate?

Yes, EconEd Month is a member program. Membership is completely free and open to anyone working with students or educators at the middle school, high school, or college level. That includes classroom teachers, education students, administrators, curriculum directors, instructional coaches, and staff at economic education organizations. If you are not a member yet, joining takes about a minute and is worth 10 points toward your total.

How do the prize tiers work?

Think of it as a menu. Your point total unlocks a tier, and you choose one prize from it. Reaching a higher tier does not mean you receive everything in the tiers below, it means the list you are choosing from gets longer and better.

You can always choose down. If you make Tier 3 but what you really want is the poster from Tier 1, take the poster. We would rather you get something you will use than something that looks more impressive on paper.

How do I earn points for prizes?

Completing and logging at least one core activity guarantees you a prize: becoming an Econiful member for the first time, teaching an Econiful lesson, finishing an on-demand module, attending a live PD session, referring a teacher who becomes a new member, or nominating an EconHero. Supporting and bonus activities alone do not qualify you for a prize but can add to your point total and earn you a larger prize.

How does the conference sponsorship work?

All U.S.-based members who reach Tier 3 by October 31 go into a drawing, and we draw one winner in early November after the points have been tallied. The winner picks one of three economics education conferences taking place in 2027: CEE, JET SET, or NAEE.

We book and pay for registration and your hotel room and room tax directly. Anything you add to the room, like room service or the mini-bar, is yours. Travel is the exception. You book it yourself and we reimburse you after the conference.

We do it that way because reimbursing travel afterward is the only way we can confirm the trip actually happened. A sponsorship this size going unused is a real loss when it could have gone to another teacher. If fronting travel would be a barrier for you, tell us when you win and we will talk it through.

Do you track my activity automatically?

No. Everything is self-reported.

What if I forget to log something?

You can log a past activity any time before the deadline as long as it happened on or after September 1, so a few days of catching up is fine. What we cannot do is award points for anything logged after 11:59 PM on October 31.

How does Econiful verify what I log?

For a few activities we ask for details, like which lesson you taught or your handle on the channel you followed, so we can find it. Otherwise, many of the activities are self reported and verification is based on trust.

Can I send photos of my students?

Yes. We obscure all student faces before anything is published, so no student is identifiable in what we share. If you would rather avoid the question entirely, you are welcome to send over-the-shoulder shots or close-ups of hands and materials instead.

How will you use photos, quotes, videos, etc. that I share with you?

We love lifting up your success and hard work. When you share a photo, quote, or recording, you permit us to use it in the future as an example of excellence. We will obscure student faces and may include your first and last name.

Can I still participate if I teach outside of the United States?

Educators outside the U.S. are welcome to become members and log activities, but we are unable to ship physical prizes internationally. Same policy as our other giveaways.

When do I find out what I won?

Logging closes at 11:59 PM Arizona time on October 31. In early November we will email you your final tier and ask which prize you want, and we will announce the conference winner at the same time.

What if I win the conference trip and cannot go?

Just tell us. You keep your place in the prize menu, so you still choose a prize from Tier 3 or from any tier below it, and we draw a new name for the conference.

What we cannot do is trade the trip for something else. The sponsorship has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for a prize of equal value.

Ready to log something?

The activity form takes about thirty seconds. One activity per submission, and you can come back as many times as you like between now and October 31.
