Econiful Lesson Featured in the Journal of Economics Teaching
In an exciting development for the Econiful team, our recent submission, "The River Trip Packing Lesson: Engaging High School Students in Basic Economic Principles on Day One," has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Economics Teaching (JET) and is available now in the Online First section of the JET website. This short article, or "teaching note," presents a compelling lesson that engages high school students in the economic way of thinking from the very first day of class. By participating in a river trip planning exercise, students gain firsthand experience with the cost-benefit, marginal, opportunity cost, and interdependence principles.
Publication in JET, a peer-reviewed economics pedagogy journal, marks a significant milestone for Econiful. It underscores our commitment to advancing economics education and empowering economic thinkers by providing educators with effective instructional materials.
JET, an open access journal whose target audience includes K-16+ educators, is interested in receiving more teaching note submissions from high school teachers. A teaching note is a short article that presents an innovative teaching idea that might be an individual lesson plan or an outline for a classroom exercise supported by a website or technology tool. Publishing with JET is a fantastic opportunity for you to share your successful practices with a wider community. If you have an idea you want to share, but aren't sure how to get started, contact JET editor Brian O'Roark at oroark@rmu.edu.
