Congratulations to Matt Pierson, March 2023 EconHero!

Matt teaches at Bryan High School in Omaha, Nebraska. He was nominated by two fellow economic educators who noted his impressive contributions to economic education in Nebraska and beyond, describing his work as exemplary and inspiring. One of his nominators wrote, "Matt is all in on economics. He...shows [students] how econ is truly 'the ultimate cheat code for life.' Matt's students leave his class with a set of skills that help them in life."

Matt works closely with the Nebraska Council on Economic Education to support fellow educators with high-quality professional development and innovative curriculum materials. Matt has also shared his expertise nationally via the National Association of Economic Educators (NAEE), the Council on Economic Education (CEE), and the Journal of Economic Education. In May, Matt will graduate with a master's degree in Economics and Entrepreneurship for Educators from the University of Delaware.
