Yes, EconEd Month is a member program. Membership is completely free, funded by the Thomas R. Brown Foundation, and open to anyone working with students or educators at the middle school, high school, or college level. That includes classroom teachers, education students, administrators, curriculum directors, instructional coaches, and staff at economic education organizations. If you are not a member yet, joining takes about a minute and is worth 10 points toward your total.

No. Everything is self-reported, which is deliberate. We are not monitoring which lessons you open or how long you spend in a module. The tradeoff is that you have to tell us what you did by logging it, because an activity we never hear about cannot earn points.

You can log a past activity any time before the deadline as long as it happened on or after September 1, so a few days of catching up is fine. What we cannot do is award points for anything logged after 11:59 PM on October 31. The activity form page shows everything you have logged so far, so check there if you are not sure whether something made it in.

No, those 10 points are for members who join during the program. If you are already with us, you have a head start in every other way, since you already know the curriculum and have PD under your belt.

Completing and logging at least one core activity: teaching an Econiful lesson, finishing an on-demand module, attending a live PD session, recording a short video, finishing the book club, or referring a teacher who joins. Signing up and bonus activities alone do not qualify you for a prize.

Mostly we trust you. For a few activities we ask for a detail, like which lesson you taught or your handle on the channel where you commented, so we can find it. PD attendance and module completion we can see on our end.

Only if you have a signed media release on file for every student pictured, and the form asks you to confirm that. We obscure all student faces before anything is published. Honestly, the photos we like best are over-the-shoulder shots or close-ups of hands and materials, which sidestep the issue entirely.

Everyone who reaches Tier 3 by October 31 goes into a drawing. The winner picks from three economics education conferences taking place in 2027.

We book and pay for registration and your hotel directly, so the two biggest line items never come out of your pocket. Travel is the exception. You book it yourself and we reimburse you after the conference.

We do it that way because reimbursing travel afterward is the only way we can confirm the trip actually happened. A sponsorship this size going unused is a real loss when it could have gone to another teacher. Worth planning for so it is not a surprise, and if fronting travel would be a barrier for you, tell us when you win and we will talk it through.

Educators outside the U.S. are welcome to become members and log activities, but we are unable to ship physical prizes internationally. Same policy as our other giveaways.

Logging closes at 11:59 PM Arizona time on October 31. We will email everyone their final tier and announce the conference winner in early November.
